first steps in choosing your wedding flowers
You’ve just got engaged – whoop and congratulations! So what next?! Well first of all, and completely honestly, there are a lot of things to think about before you need to worry about flowers! Revel in your engagement for a while! Then find your perfect venue, take a bit of time thinking about what kind of day you’d like to have and the feeling you’d like to create for your guests, the style you’d like and what would suit your venue and your personalities, colours you love and work out what’s important to you both for your day. Are flowers a supporting act but not to take centre stage or are they crucial to you, something you wish to fill every available space to create something WOW for your guests? Think about your budget. And start to look for a florist you love, whose style works for the things you’re looking for. Maybe that’s me – yay! Take a look around my website and Instagram portfolio and see what you think, and get in touch via email to chat about your ideas 🙂

What happens after you’ve emailed me?

Once I’ve received your initial enquiry I’ll ask for a few key details about you both and your day. I’ll focus on the basics like the date you’ve chosen to make sure I’m available. If I’m not I’ll try to recommend someone else who might be a good fit, but if I am available (fingers crossed!) then I’ll arrange to have an initial chat with you both to find out a bit more. This chat is about me finding out a little more about your floral hopes, yes, but it’s also about you getting to know me and checking (in both directions) that we feel like the right fit. You want to work with people for your wedding who you can trust and who you get on with so this initial meeting is important to make sure it feels right to work together. I’ll get to know you both a little (as much of the love story as you’re willing to share, especially how you got engaged!) and I’ll tell you a little more about me, and then we’ll move onto the really exciting stuff…. Your wedding plans!!
Once we’ve had this initial chat and I know more about you both and your wedding, I’ll start working up designs and costings. I’ll come back to you with a proposal and we’ll discuss how it fits with your expectations, your hopes and your budget. We’ll make as many refinements as we need until we have a proposal that you love, that maximises your budgets, and will make your wedding floral dreams come to life. The final step at this point is confirming you’d like to book me, at which point I ask for a deposit to secure your date.
Then I’ll do all of the behind the scenes work to make your wedding florals come to life. You might not hear a huge amount from me in this period while I get everything ready, but I’ll be back in touch to arrange another call ahead of the wedding to check for any final tweaks and perhaps arrange a venue visit with you to check any details. And then…… it will be your big day!
I’ll set up your florals at the venue and will deliver florals for the bride(s) and / or groom(s) and their parties. I’ll stop to make sure you’re happy with everything and offer some last-minute tips on enjoying your flowers (like how to hold your bouquet). If there’s a changeover (moving flowers from ceremony to dining room) I’ll stay for that and to make sure everything is just so in its new space. And then I’ll leave you to revel in your day and your flowers.

The day after your wedding I’ll be back at the venue to collect and tidy everything away. If you and your guests are keeping your flowers then I can help to bunch everything up to take home and then I’ll take home any vessels you’ve hired from me and any remaining and unwanted blooms. And that’s then my job done! So I’ll then be waiting to see the professional photos from the day and hoping to hear a little more about how magical your wedding day was 🙂
